A fourth elementary school, Veterans Elementary , opened in September 2005 in the village of Hillsborough . For older children, Rancho del Rey Middle School, Otay Ranch High School and Olympian High are also nearby. Rancho del Rey Middle School offers a highly academic curriculum with an emphasis on interdisciplinary studies. Otay Ranch High welcomed ninth and tenth graders in July 2003. Located on a 50-acre site, the 197,000 square-foot facility is considered a "flagship school" and one of the most technologically advanced schools in the district. The school, designed for 2,400 to 2,500 students, features an Administration of Justice Academy in conjunction with the Chula Vista Police Department as one of many planned community corporate partnerships. Campus amenities include a state of the art gym, football field with synthetic turf, and an Olympic-quality rubberized track. Otay Ranch High is home of the Mustangs. Otay Ranch's second High School, Olympian High , opened in August 2006 and is located just south of Olympic Parkway at Magdalena Avenue . Designed by Martinez-Cutri Architects, the school is heavily influenced by art and technology with classroom buildings situated in a radial fashion, anchored by administrative buildings and a library. This school has been designed to eventually accommodate around 2,400 students.
